The star has donated the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound honor winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which operates to protect the Britain's independent music venues.

Fender was awarded the prize on 16 October as his new release his work was named the top album of the previous year.

Fender has chosen to hand the money over to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the vital role local spots had in his initial steps.

"I would not have achieved this success if it hadn't been for all the shows I played around the region, and beyond, when I was just getting going," said Sam Fender. "These venues are legendary, but they are struggling."

Since the start of 2023, over 150 of these venues have ceased operations – approximately 16% of the whole industry in the UK.

Over the past year, major artists such as Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the trust in its initiatives to support the industry, by including a modest fee to their ticket costs, which goes to help smaller concert halls.

Sam Fender also participated, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to assist thirty-eight local spots across Britain.

The donation assisted venues that were dealing with potential shutdown due to issues caused by flooding, blazes and bereavements, as well as permit problems, conflicts and noise complaints.

Other venues received monetary aid in modernizing facilities and gear that positively impacted artists and fans.

"The notion that revenue from performances in major spaces backs the independent spots, where it all starts for performers like me, is just common sense," Sam Fender has said.

The musician is far from the only musician to donate his honor funds to good deeds.

Back when Pulp earned the award in 1996 for their album the album, lead singer Cocker declared that the act would give their winnings to the organization the charity.

That year, artist the artist divided her bounty among a few good causes, including the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.

"Additionally, I donated a grand to the center, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they needed updated gear," the artist told outlets.

Two years ago, Ezra Collective donated their prize money to the local youth club that nurtured their act, in addition to other grassroots music organisations.

And winners that year the group contributed their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was diagnosed the disease.

"Receiving the award was quite enough," stated singer Small. "The prize was the extra but we could do without the bonus, because we had the honor. So our winning impacted the lives of others."

Recently, the Music Venues Trust shared it had protected several small stages in south-east England, by placing them under public stewardship.

One venue in Southampton and the other in that location were acquired under the public acquisition program, which is backed by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who buy "ownership units" in the properties.
